11. Cinco Ribeiras Swimming Area

The Cinco Ribeiras Swimming Area is located on the southwestern coast of Terceira Island and is one of the best-known swimming spots on the island. It consists of several natural seawater pools, well sheltered and with easy access, making it a comfortable and safe place to swim.
 

The surroundings add a lot to the experience. On clear days you can see the islands of São Jorge and Pico from the swimming area. There are also good facilities and plenty of space to lay out your towel and move around comfortably.

It is also a great spot to stay until late in the day, as the sunsets in this area tend to be stunning.
