12. Wine Museum

The Biscoitos Wine Museum showcases the history of wine on the island and the importance of Verdelho, the most famous variety from Terceira. You'll be able to see how the vineyards were worked, the tools that have been used for centuries, the wine cellar, the distillery, the tasting room, and the bottling room. It also houses the headquarters of the Verdelho Wine Brotherhood, which is responsible for maintaining the quality of this historic wine.

It is a free, very authentic, and easy-to-navigate visit, where you can understand how Verdelho is produced and learn about the island's winemaking tradition. If you'd like to experience it through a guided tour, we recommend contacting the museum directly for more information.

The museum is also very close to the Biscoitos Natural Pools, Calheta dos Lagadores, and the military trenches, so we recommend visiting all these spots on the same day as part of your route along the northern coast of Terceira.
